A word from Section Chief Alan Camarillo

Dear W3S

Wow, already we find ourselves preparing for our second year as W3S! As I look into our future, I see much potential. I see our plentiful resources as well as our unique character.

This year is going to be one for the books. We have the Nor Cal Jamboree in the spring which will be perhaps the largest scout gathering in the Western region during 2010! We plan to work alongside with section W3N to produce a great program to feature at the jamboree. After the Nor Cal Jamboree, the National jamboree will be taking place in late July.

Come September, it will be time for us to participate in our second conclave as section W3S. Although September is a long way away, we have already begun the planning process for this incredible event. We hope to deliver a program that is a pure product of our section COC. New ideas will be featured as well as new concepts. With this being our second conclave as a new section, we hope to take full advantage of our numerous resources. With this conclave, we shall incorporate all aspects of our section.

We shall finally bridge the gaps between our “registered members,” and our active members addressing a nationwide problem. Our conclave will serve as a clear example to others to show that it really can be done! For this conclave, I hope to bring upwards of 500 people! As this may seem to be an impossible feat, I believe it really can be done. For this to happen, it is important that we get as many people involved in the planning as possible. I highly encourage all of you to talk to your lodge chief about getting involved.

Right now, CVC positions are being designated. If you are interested, talk to myself or your lodge chief about which one you would be interested in serving as. The more people we get involved, the easier it will be to make conclave truly great.

I honestly believe that we have the ability to make this conclave one that will go in the section history pages.

I am excited for the year and I am honored to have the opportunity to serve as your section chief. With that, I wish you all a happy holidays and good New Year.
